SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -
A little girl is getting the thrill of a lifetime as the community gives back in a big way. People hoping to help the young girl have raised enough money to buy the girl a special bike after her original one was stolen.
WNEM received a number of emails and calls from people wanting to help Lazaria Morales.
Lazaria and her mom say they have renewed confidence in the goodness of people.
In 24 hours, they went from being victims to becoming the recipients of the community's generosity.
Tuesday's example of paying it forward comes from a group with somewhat of a tough exterior.
Joe Yax, who manages Great Lakes Harley Davidson, says he was inspired to help Lazaria while watching TV5. He saw the story on how someone snatched 12-year-old Lazaria's special needs tricycle from her porch.
She's autistic and can only balance on three wheels.
"I stepped out of my office for five minutes, and I came back into my office, and there's a $20 bill laying on my computer," said Yax.
No doubt, Lazaria and her mother were moved.
"This is just overwhelming, how much they have done for us" said Amy Pruden, Lazaria's mother.
Best of all, it's an act of kindness Lazaria will never forget. "I want to say thank you," said Lazaria.
As far as her new wheels, she has a definite plan for keeping it safe. She's going to keep it in the house.
Joe Yax says those that helped donated well above and beyond what was needed to purchase Lazaria new trike.
So the extra, about $500, Yax says will be used to purchase a Meijer gift card for the family.
