Police: Arrest made in gas station stabbing attack

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (AP) -

Police say they've made an arrest in an attack on a 64-year-old Detroit gas station customer where surveillance video showed at least two witnesses standing by without intervening.

The arrest of a 27-year-old Detroit man was announced at a Thursday news conference. Police say prosecutors are being asked to issue charges in the case.

The man who was attacked has been recovering at a hospital after being stabbed multiple times during the robbery Saturday morning on the city's northwest side.

The video broadcast by area TV stations shows the attacker waiting outside the gas station before confronting the 64-year-old Detroiter. The man was repeatedly punched and stabbed as two other men kept their distance and watched him attempt to fight back and protect himself.
