Fire ruled arson on N Erie St, home to be demolished

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

It took firefighters more than two hour to contain a house fire on North Erie Street.

Flames were seen coming from a home on the 2000 block of North Erie Street around 5 a.m. on Monday.

Firefighters were able to battle the blaze from the outside only, because the flames were too strong to enter the house.

The fire caused damage to homes on both sides. Flames spread to the attic of one of the neighboring homes.

The structure was so badly damaged, firefighters stop actively fighting the blaze shortly before 7 a.m.

Firefighters tell WTOL 11, the home will have to be torn down later in the day on Monday.

Neighbors say the property has been unoccupied for several years.

Fire investigators have ruled the fire as an arson.

No injuries were reported.

An investigation is still underway.
