Bikes, Barks and Balloons is happening in Frankenmuth this Memorial Day weekend, as the unofficial start to summer kicks off.
Festival organizer Jim Engel says "We have professional and serious cyclists racing in downtown Frankenmuth and then out into the countryside Saturday morning. They're expecting nearly four hundred bicyclists. We have nearly four thousand dogs registered for different events at the dog Olympic event and I have thirty-one hot air balloon pilots here from all over the Midwest. They will fly over Frankenmuth in the mornings each day and then we do the balloon glow after dark. "
Now for the train buffs or just the young at heart.
Junction Valley Railroad, just outside Bridgeport, is having a very special memorial weekend, after the loss of the two founders.
Denise Stenger, with the Junction Valley Railroad says, "We made a memorial car for Pa and Grandma and we will release butterflies and then we will unveil the new car for them. And it's going to be a true Memorial Day, but a true wonderful day. "
In Flint on Monday, the annual Memorial Day ceremony will take place, highlighted by the placing of wreaths at the war memorial in Mcfarlan Park.
