Biomedical Research Foundation has decided to move forward with a plan to operate and manage LSU Hospitals in Shreveport and other cities in Louisiana.
On Friday the board voted to approve what's called a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA).
"The decision was to move forward and ultimately end up with a partnership to ultimately manage hospitals here and in Conway and Monroe and to align ourselves well with the medical school to preserve the academic mission of the hospital," said Steven Skrivanos, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Biomedical.
The agreement is said to just set up the framework to manage LSU hospital, but several entities would have to sign off on the deal.
Biomedical promises to focus on maintaining jobs at the hospital, and estimates that 90% of the employees will remain.
