A trooper from the Michigan State Police Flint post was involved in a shooting early Saturday morning in Mount Morris Township.
The shooting happened at approximately 3:30am when the officer pulled over a vehicle with two occupants near Ridgeway Ave. and Montrose St.
Police tell us a male passenger fled the scene.
The state trooper then chased him on foot and apprehended the suspect who put up a fight.
The suspect reached for the officer's gun, but was killed when the trooper shot him with his secondary weapon.
Police say the suspect was wanted on a felony warrant from the U.S. Marshals Office for weapon-related offenses.
He also had two misdemeanor warrants from the city of Flint.
The state trooper, who was unharmed, is now on administrative leave in compliance with the department's policy.
The incident remains under investigation.
