The family of Mustafa McWhorter has set up a memorial fund for him after he was shot and killed Tuesday on the city's west side.
It happened just before noon in the 11600 block of Lorain Avenue near the library.
Police say the victim, 18-year-old Mustafa McWhorter, was walking with another male westbound on Lorain Avenue when they were confronted by an individual driving a red pickup truck.
The individual in the truck fired a shot, striking McWhorter in the chest/side. The suspect then fled the scene and has not been arrested.
McWhorter died at MetroHealth Medical Center.
"Don't nobody deserve to get shot. Don't nobody deserve to get killed. Not only did they kill the little boy but his mom is never going to be the same no more," said Camaro Alexander, who knew McWhorter.
A donation can be made at any PNC Bank under the Mustafa McWhorter Memorial Fund or MJ1 Memorial Fund.
