CHESANING, MI (WNEM) -

Saginaw County Sheriff's deputies were called to an apartment complex on Bentley in Chesaning early Sunday morning on a report of a domestic violence incident.

Saginaw County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Randy Pfau said when officers arrived, they found a 41-year-old man had had a confrontation with his girlfriend.

Pfau explained that officers found a female victim, who was on the floor and bloody, as she had been assaulted.

Pfau said that the boyfriend, Daniel Allen Miller, was highly intoxicated, according to deputies, and assaultive towards them. He fought the police and sustained injuries when he cut himself with a knife he was brandishing. The two deputies also received injuries.

One has a broken knuckle and will be off duty for 60 days because he is wearing a cast.  Both of the deputies and Miller were treated and released.

Pfau said Miller did not cut or stab the woman, however he did threaten her with the knife. Miller remains lodged in the Saginaw County Jail on four charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence, and resisting and obstructing an officer causing impairment. If Miller is found guilty on that last charge, he could be sentenced to up to 15 years behind bars.
