FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

It's an event that thousands of people look forward to every year - the Crim Festival of Races.

This year the Crim Festival of Races will take place Aug. 23-24.

Wednesday, organizers announced a number of changes for this year's race, starting with the name.

The event is being called the 2013 Healthplus Crim Festival of Races to highlight Healthplus of Michigan, the first ever title sponsor.

This year, there's a new and improved course route for the big 10-mile race.

The final miles of the race will be the same as they've always been, finishing on Saginaw Street.

More than 16,000 participants are expected to cross the finish line Aug. 24.

Bobby Crim, festival organizer, says it's a sign of continued progress and growth, not just for the race, but for Flint as well.

And for the first time, the Michigan Mile, the Crim's one-mile race, will take place the evening before the big race.

The Michigan mile will be held Friday evening.
