Saginaw pastor holds anti-violence rally

Posted: Updated:
SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

It's been a deadly year in the city of Saginaw, with 17 homicides already on the books halfway through 2013.

A rally to stop the violence was held Thursday night, sponsored by the Saginaw branch of the National Action Network and the Life-Line Coalition.

Pastor Cirven Merrill spoke about who he believes is responsible for most of the violence - gangs.

And he's asking for a day of amnesty for local gang members, so they can have a chance for a new life.

Merrill plans to hold future rallies in different areas of the city.
