SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

A local church was robbed of its central air-conditioning system and now its members are looking for answers.

Church members at Daniel's Den Ministry tell TV5 it isn't the first time they've been targeted as the same air-conditioning unit either comes up missing or has parts taken from it.

The theft happened Thursday afternoon at 2716 Wadsworth in Saginaw. Members tell TV5 the thieves cut the lines running to the unit and removed the entire thing from its mountings.

"[I'm] very dishearted," said Tania Baston, a church member. "Our church is a place of worship, we have people coming here trying to better themselves and better their community, and for it to happen in a house of God, whoever did it doesn't have any reverence for God, we pray for whoever did it."

Police are investigating the case, and since the theft happened in broad daylight, they are hoping witnesses in the community saw something and will contact them. Another theft happened at the church in 2012, where one of the A/C units had copper stolen from inside it.

As the summer heat hits Mid-Michigan, air-conditioning unit theft ramps up and businesses have been impacted in Saginaw and Saginaw Township over the last few years.
