Kids at play! Kids at play!
SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

School is out and kids are home for summer break. But how can we encourage them to go out and play in all types of weather?

A new guide from the National Wildlife Foundation (NWF) addresses some weather-related concerns parents may have when it comes to letting their kids play outdoors.

In addition to television and video game systems, weather can also be a deterring factor in getting kids outside to play. The guide provides strategies on how to get kids outside in all types of weather.

Some tips they provide include fun and colorful rain gear that kids would enjoy. The guide also touches on proper safety precautions that can be taken for different weather conditions.

The guide is part of the NWF's "Be out there" movement. It is focused on getting kids outside and in touch with their natural surroundings.

For ideas on how to get your kids out and about this summer, be sure to check the National Wildlife Foundations' web site and take a look at their report "The Forecast Calls for Play."
