FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ (CBS5) -

Fountain Hills Rural Metro fire chief died Saturday after a lengthy battle with cancer, the emergency services organization said.

Chief Scott LaGreca had retired from the Chicago Fire Department prior to coming to Rural Metro, where he spent 17 years working in the community.

"Scott was all about the community and his fellow fire fighters," said Rural Metro spokesman Colin Williams. "He will be greatly missed."

Rural Metro said it is working with family members to plan a memorial service.
