SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Police have released the identity of the last three homicide victims in the city of Saginaw.

Denise Price, 43, was killed near the intersection of South 5th and Burt streets, becoming the city's 18th homicide of the year.

Police found Price laying in the street after she had been shot several times. Price was killed on Sunday, June 16.

Four days earlier, Allen Fields was shot and killed near the intersection of Perkins and S. 9th streets. Fields, 33, was killed on Wednesday, June 12.

Hoshea Pruitt, 49, was shot and killed on Tuesday, June 11. Pruitt was killed at a residence at 1035 E. Holland Avenue.

Seven of this year's victims, that's nearly half, have been women.

Valerie Hoffman of the Underground Railroad, an organization for abused women and children, says these acts come down to a failure in the justice system.

"When you look at some of these cases, you're going to see an extensive history of the suspect committing previous acts of battering," said Hoffman.

Hoffman says she is hopeful the new prosecutor gets tougher on men who abuse women and perhaps they won't have the chance to strike again.
