Thousands without power after recent storms

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

There are still thousands of Mid-Michigan residents without power Tuesday after storms blew through the area Monday night.

Consumers Energy reports that more than 24,000 customers are without electricity in Genesee County.

In Saginaw County, it is more than 1,700. Midland County reported more than 2,200 without power.

Consumers Energy hopes to have power restored by Wednesday night.

DTE Energy officials are reporting pockets of outages around Mid-Michigan's Thumb region. The largest pocket is in an area just east of Birch Run - about 65 outages are reported there.

Most of the outages reported by DTE Energy are located south of the TV5 viewing area. More than 500 customers are offline in an area just east of Davison.

More than 2,000 customers are in the dark in a pocket of outages in the area of the intersection of I-69 and M-24 in Lapeer County.

There are also many pockets of smaller numbers of outages being reported throughout Lapeer and Oakland counties.

WNEM will continue to update power outage numbers as new information comes in to the TV5 Newsroom.
