WNEM TV5 has learned the identity of the teenager who died when a boat he was in overturned during Monday's storm.

He has been identified as 14-year-old Dallas Schall of Otter Lake.

Schall, his father and his father's friend were out on the water Monday afternoon, when they encountered problems during the storm and their boat overturned, according to Nikki Robinson, Schall's mother.

They were boating on the Saginaw River Channel near Pinconning. The boat was found near Kilarney Beach Road.

U.S. Coast Guard Sector Detroit Lt. Jillian Lamb said Dallas' body was brought to shore early Tuesday morning by the other men.

The trio planned to spend Monday fishing on a 15-foot boat, but Lamb says it "became swamped and sank very quickly" during severe storms that moved through the area in the afternoon and early evening.

Lamb says the boaters were wearing life jackets and had a working flare they shot off, but it went undetected. Coast Guard crews searched through the night.

The two adults were taken to McLaren Hospital Bay Region in Bay City. Robinson said Schall's father was being treated for Hypothermia, but was expected to recover.
