BRIDGEWATER, CT (WFSB) -

Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Environmental Conservation Police said they are responding to reports that a man's body was found in Lake Lillinonah in Bridgewater late Tuesday morning.

Officials said the body of a white male was found floating by someone on a dock at 100 Lake Lillinonah North at about 11:40 a.m.

The location is across from Lovers Leap State Park, where a search has been ongoing for Eric Langlois, 33, of New Milford.

EnCon police said the chief medical examiner has been notified of the search and will conduct any examinations necessary to make a positive identification.

Langlois was reported missing by his wife, Amber Langlois, on Tuesday. She said he had fallen off his bike Monday and went into the Lake Lillinonah, but was able to safely make it to shore.

"Land searches, divers, sonar, commercial diving outfits, Connecticut K9's along with hundreds of volunteers," said EnCon police Capt. Raul Camejo. "It wears on you. It's a tough part of the job. One officer assigned to the family to assist them in anyway we can."

The body was spotted about 40 to 50 feet from shore of a home along Lake Road North, which was the same house that served as a staging area for volunteer and state searchers who scoured both land and water last week.

"Two EnCon police officers borrowed a canoe from the homeowner and paddled out in the lake and secured a body that was floating in the lake," Camejo said.

DEEP officials admitted to Eyewitness News it'll likely take 24 to 48 hours for the medical examiner to figure out who the man is for sure.

The bicycle that Langlois went looking for was never located.

Family and friends of Eric Langlois held a vigil Monday night at Lover's Leap Bridge. EnCon officers have kept in close contact with them.

"They're heart broken," Camejo said. "They're hoping to find him on the shoreline waiting for a rescue part to come get him, but again we do not 100 percent if it's him."
