FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -
A man apparently angered about the minority workforce at a construction site in Pinal County opened fire on the workers and a sheriff's deputy Monday morning, law enforcement authorities said.
The suspect, 53-year-old Danny Davis of Florence, walked into a home in the Magma Ranch housing development in the area of Marigold Lane and Primrose shortly before noon. He then fired a shot at the construction workers, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. No one was hurt.
Davis then pointed a rifle out the passenger window and fired a single round in the direction of a sheriff's deputy who was investigating the shooting.
Nearby deputies said they heard the shot, rushed to the area and detained Davis.
Davis showed obvious signs of alcohol impairment as he was taken into custody, sheriff's investigators said.
Investigators are continuing to dig deeper into the incident and determining if the crimes were racially motivated.
Davis was booked into the Pinal County Detention Center on one count of attempted first- degree murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
