An ozone health watch has been posted for the remainder of Thursday and all day Friday, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality said.

High concentrations of ozone may occur in children and adults with respiratory problems, and are urged to avoid outdoor activities.

ADEQ issued the following recommendations:

  • Avoid waiting in long drive-thru lines, for example, at coffee shops, fast-food restaurants or banks. Park your car and go inside.
  • Unplug unused appliances.
  • Fuel your vehicle after dark or during cooler evening hours
  • Connect your outdoor lights to a timer or use solar lighting.
