A 15-year-old Detroit area boy has been hurt while hood surfing on the final day of school before summer vacation.
The Oakland County sheriff's office says the teen suffered head and arm injuries and a broken leg Friday morning when he was run over by the car he had been riding on. He was listed in stable condition at an area hospital.
Deputies say the teen jumped on the car as its 16-year-old driver was pulling from the Pontiac Academy of Excellence school parking lot in Pontiac, north of Detroit.
The driver turned onto the street and sped up to about 30 mph. The 15-year-old fell from the hood as the driver slowed ahead of a stop sign.
Both teens are students at the school.
