Standoff in Fenton ends with one man in custody

Posted: Updated:

A man is in custody after a standoff with police in Fenton.

It started around 2:30 p.m. Sunday and police remained on the scene for six hours before the suspect was finally arrested.

The Flint Journal reported police were called to the home on West Elizabeth Street to do a welfare check and that's when police said the man threatened them with a hatchet and a knife.

The man is now being held in the Genesee County Jail and could be arraigned today.
