COVENTRY TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

An investigation is underway after a deadly motorcycle accident in Summit County.

The crash happened Sunday afternoon shortly after 2 p.m. in Coventry Township.

The rider - identified as Ronald Rhome - was traveling on Interstate 77 when his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle went off the left side of the roadway and hit a sign post.

The 24-year-old Massillon man was rushed to Akron City Hospital by the Coventry Fire Department. He later died at the hospital.

The accident remains under investigation by the Summit County Sheriff's Crash Team, but speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
