ISABELLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Police in Isabella County are investigating what appears to be an alcohol-related crash that injured two kids in a residential neighborhood.

A Mount Pleasant man was charged Monday with two felonies involving the accident. David Lee Yarger Jr. was charged with third-offense drunken driving and possession of a controlled substance.

Yarger was also charged with reckless driving and violation of license restrictions, both misdemeanors.

The accident happened around 9:50 p.m. Sunday night in Isabella County in the Union Township area near First and Kay streets.

Witnesses say an 8-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl were playing in the street when a red Chevrolet knocked over a stop sign and then careened into the children.

The children were taken to the hospital. There's no word on their conditions at this time.

Yarger may face additional charges pending a medical investigation.
