CLARE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Clare County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home in Garfield Township on a report of a break-in and theft of an off-road vehicle.

The robbery happened Wednesday on Wood View Drive after the homeowner reported a 4-wheel ATV was missing. While investigating, deputies said they learned the suspect had been confronted back at his home by individuals and shots had been fired.

Deputies said they arrested the suspect in the break-in, an 18-year-old from Lake. He is free on an interim bond due to the holiday and is expected to be arraigned on July 16.

WNEM.com has learned the Clare County Sheriff's department is also seeking charges against the 73-year-old who fired the shots. No injuries were reported during the encounter.

Police said the stolen ATV was recovered. Deputies are continuing to investigate the incident.
