The pilot killed in the plane crash in Chesaning on Saturday has been identified. Daniel James Malott, 57, was killed in the crash when his light support plane went down in the soccer field at Chesaning Middle School.
The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
When deputies arrived on the scene, the found the small aircraft fully engulfed in flames. Chesaning Fire Department officials were able to put out the blaze with assistance by the Oakley Police Department and Chesaning police.
Malott was from Saginaw County. The plane he was navigating is being described as a JDT1600 R sport.
The case remains under investigation.
