TUSCOLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Tuscola County Sheriff's deputies were sent to a burglary in progress at a business on Monday night.

A witness told 911 dispatch that a FedEx truck was parked at the business and the driver was breaking into the store.

The officers were aware that a be-on-the-lookout had been issued by dispatch for a reckless FedEx truck earlier that day.

When officers arrived at the location on Remington Road in Almer Township just after 10 p.m., a person wearing a FedEx coat ran from the scene. Authorities said the suspect ran behind some nearby houses and got away from the officers.

A tracking dog was requested from the Michigan State Police and the suspect was eventually caught after a homeowner saw a subject matching the description of the suspect in his garage.

Deputies impounded the FedEx truck and later learned that the truck was stolen in Caro several hours prior.

Investigators said it is believed the suspect found the FedEx coat in the truck and put it on.

Late Tuesday afternoon, authorities said Chrischundan Ricktarious Copes was being charged with breaking and entering, unlawful driving away in a motor vehicle, resisting/assaulting a police officer and malicious destruction of a building in connection to the incident.

Copes bond was set at $12,000. WNEM.com will update this story with new information in this case as it becomes available.
