PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A former Portland nurse who is charged with sexually assaulting women seeking treatment in the emergency room made his first court appearance Thursday.

Jeffrey McAllister, 38, was arrested Wednesday on charges including rape and sex abuse. Court documents list three victims in the case.

Portland police said the investigation began when a patient came forward in April alleging McAllister sexually assaulted her at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. With the assistance of the Oregon State Board of Nursing, detectives said they became aware of additional alleged victims.

Police said the alleged victims were "vulnerable adult women seeking medical treatment."

McAllister worked at Legacy as an emergency room technician from 2005 to 2008 and as a registered nurse in the emergency room from 2008 to 2013.

A representative with Legacy Emanuel tells FOX 12 as soon as they were made aware of the allegations they fired McAllister and offered up their full cooperation with the investigation.

Police said McAllister has been placed on administrative leave by his current employers at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland and Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles.

Providence released a statement Wednesday saying McAllister worked as an on-call resource nurse in the emergency department from November 2009 to April 2013. On April 8, he was hired as a full-time employee by the hospital.

Two days later, the Providence St. Vincent's human resources department learned of the allegations and McAllister was put on administrative leave.

Administrators with Providence St. Vincent's say they have received no complaints from patients, or employees about McAllister to this date.

Mid-Columbia Medical Center also tells FOX 12 that McAllister worked for them as a casual part time employee as a nurse in their ER.  They suspended him on June 12th, after learning about the allegations.

Administrators there say they are not aware of any complaints involving McAllister in their hospital.

Along with working in area hospitals, investigators said McAllister has been employed in security and law enforcement.

He was a Seaside police officer from 1996 to 2002 and a Beaverton police officer from 2002 to 2004.

FOX 12 has confirmed McAllister was and officer in training with the BPD, but later turned in his letter of resignation in 2004.

McAllister was also reserve officer with the Independence Police Department in 1997 and worked as a Legacy Health Systems security officer from 2004 to 2005.

No one at the McAllister family home in Portland wanted to comment on the situation.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims. If you know anything about the suspect, you're asked to call detectives at 503-823-0400.
