Port Fourchon, LA -

The well in the Gulf of Mexico that has been leaking natural gas has been plugged. That according to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.

Officials say the well located approximately 74 miles southwest of Port Fourchon, LA was stopped using a pumping operation that involved pumping drilling fluids into the well.

They say more work is required to permanently secure the well. That work is expected to continue through the weekend. In the meantime the well is being monitored for any changes.
