Storm-damaged tree crashes onto car in Franklin

Posted: Updated:

A case of weather damage, well after the fact, caused some travel problems on a busy road Friday afternoon in Williamson County.

A tree that had been damaged during Wednesday night's storms fell, and hit a car on Franklin Road between Moores Lane and Mallory Station Road.

Crews were actually looking at the tree at the time, and deciding how best to remove it, when it snapped and struck a passing car.

The car was totaled, but nobody inside was injured.

"It is a big mess. It will take us a good long time to try to get all this cleared up," said Brian Buckelew, with Higher Calling Tree Removal.

Franklin Road reopened after workers moved the tree to the side of the road, and utility crews inspected the nearby poles to make sure they were not damaged.
