8 arrests in Lucas County sobriety checkpoint

SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

An overnight sobriety checkpoint in Sylvania Township resulted in 8 arrests, one for driving under the influence.

According to the Sylvania Township Police Department, one driver out of 679 vehicles passing through the checkpoint was arrested for DUI. The driver tested at a blood alcohol level of .12.

45 vehicles were diverted in total. Officials say seven others were arrested for unrelated charges, including driving with a suspended license, driving without a license and restraint citations.

The checkpoint took place from 9:30 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, on the 5000 block of West Central Avenue.
