Lack of ticket sales causes Showboat cancellation

CHESANING, MI (WNEM) -

Days after canceling the acts for the Chesaning Showboat Music Festival, a statement has been released explaining the move.

"The largest contributor to the show's cancellation was the lack of ticket sales. More details will be available as soon as the financial report has been completed," the statement said.

On Monday it was announced that the acts scheduled to start the next day would not take the stage. The bands included the Charlie Daniels Band, Bret Michaels, Theory of a Dead Man and KC and the Sunshine Band.

The issue has now been turned over to the festival's attorney. It's not clear what the next step is for people who had purchased tickets. But organizers say the lawyer is reviewing the repayment options, and will release more information as it becomes available.
