Lions release Jahvid Best

DETROIT -

The Detroit Lions have released running back Jahvid Best.

Best played in 22 games for the Lions after being selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Plagued by concussions in college, Best suffered a concussion 6 games into the 2011 season then was later placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list; he hasn't played in a game since.

In his two seasons with Detroit, Best totaled over 1700 yards and 9 touchdowns.
