Michigan State Police say a 33-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assault to commit murder following a four-month investigation into an arson incident.
As a result of the probe, MSP's Third District Fire Marshal division said Jeffrey Paul McKenna has been charged with two counts of assault to commit murder.
McKenna was initially charged with arson of a dwelling stemming from an incident that occurred in April 2013 in the 700 block of South Michigan Avenue in the city of Saginaw.
On July 18, McKenna was in court for his preliminary hearing and his charges were amended to two counts of assault to commit murder, one count for each of the two tenants who were living upstairs.
McKenna was bound over to circuit court on a $1 million bond.
The MSP said they conducted the investigating at the request of the Saginaw City Fire Department.
