BIRCH RUN, MI (WNEM) -

An incident following a race has forced a local speedway to cancel events and move them to a neighboring track.

WNEM.com has confirmed that operations at Dixie Motor Speedway near Birch Run have been suspended for the remainder of the season.

Dixie Motor Speedway owner Mike Kern told TV5 he is planning to hold a news conference with Clio's Auto City Speedway to discuss the situation on Wednesday.

MLive reports the cancellations stem from a July 12 incident that left a person in the stands injured. In a statement released by Kern on the Dixie Motor Speedway website states that "as a result of an incident on a step in the grandstand after the races this past Friday, we have cancelled events for July 19 and July 26."

The speedway says two of its biggest events will still take place, but not at Dixie Motor Speedway. The Mid-Michigan Toyota Dealers "Draper 125 will be held at Auto City Speedway on Friday, Aug. 16, and on Saturday, Sept. 7, the Pioneer Seed 50 will be held, also at Auto City.
