MIDLAND COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Oil changes, radiator fixes, mechanics perform these and many other car repairs at His Hands Auto Care.

Located behind Messiah Lutheran Church in Midland County, the auto repair shop's main purpose is to help people in need. Volunteer mechanics say they partner with sponsors life the Salvation Army to offer discounted and free car repairs to people with low income.

"They're just happy to have a safe car so they can go to work or go take their kids places," said volunteer Paul Shanks.

Since the shop opened just more than two months ago they have fixed nearly 100 vehicles.

One customer expressed how grateful she was for the service. She said she's a single mom looking for work and couldn't afford to have her car fixed anywhere else.

His Hands mechanic Todd Garlow said he understands what it's like to go through hard times.

"I've been down the wrong road in life many times and now I'd just like to help other people who need it," said Garlow.

At the end of the day mechanics like Garlow said they're happy to use their auto repair skills to help people that need it

"It's a nice feeling for me knowing that when I go home at night I've done a good job," said Garlow.
