VERNON, CT (WFSB) -

The Vernon Police Department confirmed a 43-year-old woman was charged with home invasion after she walked into a resident's home and picked up a 2-year-old child.

Tami Jo Daigneult was arrested Tuesday night and charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, third-degree criminal trespass, second-degree breach of peace and risk of injury.

Police said the child's mother stopped Daigneult from doing anything more with the child. The child was not injured, police said.

Police believe that Daigneult was intoxicated during the incident.

Daigneult is expected to be arraigned at Vernon Superior Court on Aug. 20. She is being held on $100,000 bond.
