Avondale Police Chief Kevin Kotsur is retiring

Posted: Updated:

The police chief in Avondale is retiring after nearly a decade with the department.

City officials announced the retirement of Kevin Kotsur on Monday.

They say assistant Police Chief Dale Nannenga has been appointed acting chief.

Nannenga is a 33-year veteran of law enforcement who has been with Avondale police for almost 10 years.

During Chief Kotsur's tenure, the police department almost doubled to 171 employees, opened two substations and formed a community action team which is credited with reducing crime in the city.
