Police: Armed shoplifter arrested following complaint

HAMPTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Bay County's Hampton Township Police tell TV5 a man and woman have been arrested on several criminal charges following a shoplifting complaint filed by Meijer.

Following the store's complaint regarding an incident that occurred at 10:45 p.m. Monday, Hampton Township police officers stopped a vehicle containing a 21-year-old woman and 19-year-old Essexville man.

Police said they found a 6-inch double-edged knife on the woman, who also had two outstanding felony warrants issued against her. Police said at first, the woman gave them a false name, but she was later ID'd. Police said they also found drugs and drug-related paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

The duo have not yet been arraigned on charges.
