Valley daycare offers free service to parents on job interviews

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Good news for parents trying to find a job in the Valley.

Sunrise Preschools are offering free daycare for any parent going on a job interview.

They call it "interview care" and it started a couple of years ago when parents of Sunrise Preschool children lost their jobs.

Many of those parents pulled their kids out of daycare. But when it was time to interview for a new job, they didn't have anyone to take care of their children.

"If they are putting resumes out, they'll get a phone call and say can you come in at 10 o'clock for an interview. Well, then you might be home with the child or a few children. Your spouse is probably working and it might be too late of notice to take a sick day or a vacation day," said the president of Sunrise Preschools, Dana Vela.

So the people at Sunrise Preschools decided to step in and not only offer free daycare for their own parents, but to parents across the valley.

"For us, it's the right thing to do. We have the facilities, we have the space. The slower economy has given us lower enrollment so there are some open spaces in each classroom and it's the right thing to do," said Vela.

As long as they have the space available, they will continue to offer the service Vela said.

Sunrise Preschools has 24 locations across the Valley.
