Rain Returns... And It Could Cause Problems

Posted: Updated:

Moisture will steadily increase through the evening and tonight (so it will start feeling a bit muggier, and we could get a few pop-up storms).  The widespread rain should hold off until late night, when a disturbance rolls into the mountains.  Rain will push in from west to east, beginning in western NC and northeast GA late tonight, and arriving for the Upstate during the morning commute.  Rain should remain on the lighter side through the morning, the get heavier through the day.

It won't rain all of Wednesday, but we'll have a good chance of seeing several rounds of rain in any one locations.  Since our soils are so saturated, we could get quick, flash flooding in places where heavy rain lingers.  Also, any strong wind gusts could knock over trees easily.  And speaking of wind, we'll have a threat for severe storms during the afternoon Wednesday, but especially on Thursday.

By Wednesday night we should notice a break in the rain, but as the front pushes through on Thursday we'll get another round of storms.  The best chance for storms will be south of I85, after 1pm.

1-2 inches of rain could fall, leading to high creeks/rivers, and localized street/yard flooding.  We'll be on top of it and continue to update you on the evolving system.
