ANN ARBOR, MI (WNEM) -

A man accused of robbing an Ann Arbor bank has now admitted to robbing a bank and a credit union here in Mid-Michigan.

James Brackenbury, 42, says he robbed the First Merit Bank in Essexville in June and the Sunrise Family Credit Union in Bay City on July 5. He said he also tried to knock off the Community State Bank in Birch Run on July 3.

He arrested Saturday night in Ann Arbor, after a standoff with police. Brackenbury is also accused of robbing the Fifth Third Bank in Ann Arbor on July 24. He got away with $9,600 during the Ann Arbor bank robbery.

Brackenbury was arrested at a Lansing-area hotel. Police say he was in possession of narcotics at the time of his arrest. He is now being held in the Washtenaw County Jail.

A judge says he will remain in custody as he awaits trial.
