Flint Township police have announced a break in a 2-year-old homicide case.
In July of 2011, officers from the Flint Township Police Department were called to 1135 N. Ballenger Hwy. at the Admiral gas station on a the report of a fight involving a male and two females.
Moments later, gunfire was reported at the scene. When officers got to the scene, it was learned that Ryan Patrick Pinkston, 35, of Flint, had suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries on July 19, 2011.
Two years later, Flint Township police detectives investigated a tip which resulted in a suspect being identified. On Wednesday, detectives from the GAIN auto theft unit arrested Autrell Dewann Westbrooks, 28, of Flint, and he was interviewed by Flint Township detectives.
On Friday, the Genesee County Prosecutors Office issued charges for open murder, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm.
Westbrooks was arraigned in the 67th District Court.
