FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Flint is set to lay out a plan for the city's long term future. The city council will hold a special meeting Monday evening to unveil a master plan.

That plan will spell out rules for land use, where business can develop, and address public safety issues and blight.

If council members approve the plan, residents will have about two months to weigh in on it. The meeting is at city hall and will start at 5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Flint is finally cashing in on back taxes.

The city has received $50,000 so far from thousands of people who filed a state return, but not a city return.

Emergency Manager Mike Brown says the city is offering payment plans, if paying the lump sum is a burden.

Brown says once all those taxes are collected it could generate more than a million dollars for the city.
