A suburban Detroit man says he was forced to land a small plane in a Genesee County field after the engine quit.
Ken Fackler of Rochester tells The Flint Journal that he was about 600 feet off the ground after taking off from Dalton Airport in Genesee County's Mount Morris Township on Sunday afternoon when the problem occurred. He put the plane down in Flint Township.
No one was injured.
Fackler says finding an open space to make the emergency landing was "just pure blind luck."
Fackler was heading to Ray Community Airport. Flint Township firefighters helped pull the white two-seat plane out of a field after the landing.
