AUBURN, MI (WNEM) -
Bay County authorities responded to the scene of a standoff at a home in Auburn on Wednesday morning.
The Bay County Sheriff's office said deputies were dispatched to 220 Shady Lane around 3:40 a.m. when a person began making threats to hurt himself and police. The area is just south of West Midland Road, between 9 Mile and Garfield Roads.
When deputies arrived, they hear the subject making verbal threats to harm police. Deputies backed away, secured a perimeter and called in the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team. That team took the subject into custody, where that person was then turned over to the Bay County Sheriff's office.
The situation was wrapped up around 9:30 a.m. Roads were blocked off in the area as a result of the standoff. Initial reports on TV5 and WNEM.com indicated the subject was a man, but authorities have not confirmed that information.
Authorities said they will continue to investigate the incident.
