A Saginaw man accused of threatening to kill his own son and the child's mother is behind bars.
Saginaw police responded to a home in the 1300 block of Union around 4:30 a.m. after 911 Central Dispatched received a report that a 29-year-old man was making threats to kill the two with a gun.
Police said the threats were made to the child's mother over the phone as she was not at the home, but the child was in the man's custody.
Officers responded to the call, blocked off the area and proceeded to communicate with the man via PA system. Around 6 a.m. the officers became aware that a family member was in the area and that family member was able to assist officers in getting the man to surrender to police.
After the man was placed under arrest, officers searched the premises and did not locate a gun.
The 3-year-old child was safely taken into police custody and authorities said he was not harmed during the stand-off.
The man was transported and turned over to Arenac County for prior warrants.
