KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police responded to two shootings that occurred within a mile of each other Tuesday afternoon.

The first shooting happened near a western edge of Swope Park.

The shooting was reported near the Park Gate Apartments, located on Askew Avenue, just off of East Meyer Boulevard, just before 1:30 p.m.

Officers on scene said three men were shot, one in the back. The victim shot in the back is listed in critical condition and the other two only had minor injuries.

Police said they believe there may have been more than one shooter and they are questioning two people. They said they're still searching for the gunmen, though.

Less than a mile away, a second shooting was reported.

Police said they got a call on an accident shortly before 3 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they spoke to witnesses who said people in two cars began firing shots at one another.

No one was hit, but a car wrecked trying to avoid the shooting.
