After an active Friday night, mainly in the west valley, it looks like more rain is on the way especially Saturday night through Sunday.
Rain totals as of early Saturday morning include Peoria picking up .87", Deer Valley .79", Surprise .67", Glendale .55", North Phoenix .55", and Buckeye .43". Phoenix Sky Harbor recorded .20".
The increase in humidity that you'll feel through the weekend is due to a strong southerly flow, which will ultimately tap into additional moisture from a weakening tropical system near the Baja of Mexico. That moisture, combined with weak impulses or weather disturbances (that are admittedly tough to time), will be the trigger that kicks off more rain.
It looks like the bullseye for the heaviest, and possible flooding rains will be north and west of the Valley where *flash flood watches* are in effect through Sunday evening. Slow moving storms that set up over the Valley could also cause some minor flooding or ponding.
Along with the elevated rain chances, expect temperatures to drop. Highs temps will only top out in the 90s Saturday and Sunday. The average high temperature for the end of August is 104 degrees here in the Valley.
Although not quite as active, unsettled weather will stick around through at least the beginning of the upcoming week.
