OWENDALE-GAGETOWN, MI (WNEM) -

Huron County Sheriff's deputies say thousands of dollars were stolen from an area business during a robbery in Owendale on Friday morning.

Officials determined that between $15,000 to $20,000 of merchandise was stolen from Stack's Market in Owendale around 5 a.m. Friday morning.

When officials arrived on the scene, they found the store's front glass window had been smashed. Video surveillance footage showed the suspect entering around 3 a.m. and removing several items from the store.

Most of the items taken were cigarettes, liquor and chewing tobacco. Police say the suspect actually used the store's trash can to assist in removing items.

The suspect appears to be male, wearing a blue winter-type jacket. He was also wearing blue jeans and dark-colored glasses.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Huron County Sheriff's office at 989-269-6500.
