Autopsy results returned in CMU student's death

This is a update -- Autopsy results are back in the death of a 22-year-old Central Michigan University student.

Authorities told WSGW the results are "inconclusive" as to how Kelly Markatos died. They're now waiting to see what toxicology results show. She was found unresponsive in her apartment bedroom by her roommates on Tuesday near the CMU campus.

MLIVE is reporting that Markatos may have had a medical condition that she was aware of.  

Police tell they do not expect foul play in her death.

Mount Pleasant police responded to a call after a woman was found unresponsive inside an apartment on Tuesday morning.

Various media outlets are reporting the deceased to be Kelly Markatos, a 22-year-old Central Michigan University student. She was found in the bedroom of an apartment by her roommates in the 1100 block of West Campus Drive just after 9 a.m., within the city of Mount Pleasant.

Emergency personnel said they found Markatos unresponsive and attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.

Authorities told that right now her cause of death does not appear to be criminal in nature. Investigators are waiting on the findings of an autopsy to determine her cause of death.

Besides Mount Pleasant police, Central Michigan University police and MMR personnel also responded.

Later in the day, CMU posted to their Facebook page the following statement"

Central Michigan University is saddened to report the death of female student. According to Mount Pleasant Police, the CMU senior from Holland was found by her roommates this morning in the West Campus apartment they shared. No foul play is expected and police continue to investigate the cause of death.

CMU is providing grief counselors to assist roommates, family and friends. Our deepest condolences go out to all impacted by this tragic occurrence.
